A copper alloy Post Medieval medallion commemorating Admiral Vernon's successful capture of Portobello harbour (in modern Panama) in 1739. Hundreds of different Portobello medals were struck following Vernon's famous victory. This medallion is very worn and corroded, but appears to be a type similar to Betts 266 which shows Admiral Vernon and Commodore Brown on the obverse, and the harbour and the six ships with which it was taken on the reverse. Compare http://www.coins-of-panama.com/vernon/vn2-280.html?Size=SmallNOen
There are many different varieties showing Vernon and Brown, but not enough details survive to fully identify this one. Compare also https://www.yorkcoins.com/md501_-_george_ii_%281727-1760%29,_admiral_vernon_and_the_taking_of_portobello,_1739.htm

The medal is very worn and the edge is damaged. It measures 31.8mm diameter and is 3.2mm thick. 9.06g. It has a gold green patina.
