A fragment of a copper alloy post-medieval (AD c.1600-c.1800) pair of scissors, consisting of one of the handles. The fragment measures 39.7mm long, 17.7mm wide and 4.1mm thick. It weighs 5.68g. The handle is curved but does not form a complete finger loop. It has a foliate terminal and small projection on the outer edge of the curve. The handle is broadly D-shaped in section with a flat reverse face. Only a small triangular part of the blade survives. It has broken in line with the central rivet hole where the two parts of the scissors would have been attached. Around this hole is a recessed (semi-)circle.
