An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating to the period c. AD 75- 175. The brooch is missing the head and the pin. The bow is curved and features two moulded horizontal ridges flanking a moulded button measuring 12.33mm in width which consists of three moulded parallel horizontal grooves, the upper and lower of which feature two indents. The bow tapers to the foot which features a design of three moulded horizontal ridges. The catchplate extends from the reverse of the bow, starting at the point wher the button sits on the obverse and terminating at the foot.
The brooch measures 46.64mm in length, 12.28mm maximum width, 4.06mm minimum width, 8.79mm maximum thickness, 2.55mm minimum thickness and weighs 5.95g.
