A fragment of a cast copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating to the first or second century AD. The brooch has a head loop and three moulded ribs mid-way down the curved and tapered bow. The lower part of the brooch with the foot and the catchplate is now missing, as is the pin. It is unclear from the image if this is a hinged or springed brooch. Trumpet brooches with head loops date from c. AD 75-175.
