A lead modern Baltic bale seal dating to AD 1834. The seal has a pair of sub-rectangular piercings through the seal from one edge to the other. The seal has been stamped on both faces with inscriptions in Cyrillic script. The seal is for a bale of hemp. The seal gives the inspector's name as I.M. Bushev, and the port-name St Petersburg.

The top line of the reverse СПБ are the initials for St Petersburg.
Overall, the seal measures 21.1mm in diameter and 5.3mm in thickness. It weighs 12.12g.
Lead-alloy seals such as this one were attached to bundles of flax and hemp exported from Russia during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
