An incomplete copper alloy rowel from a rowel spur, of Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1500).
The rowel is star shaped, with originally seven spikes. Six of the seven spikes are currently present. Each spike is a pointed oval shape. A sub circular perforation is present at the centre of the rowel.
It measures 22.4 mm in length, 23.4 mm wide and 2.0 mm thick. It weighs 2.4 g.
The rowel is a mid green colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface detail.
