A fragment of a late Medieval or early Post-Medieval cast copper alloy quillion guard probably from a single-bladed dagger. The fragment consists of one of the terminal ends of one of the arms. When complete, the quillion guard would have probably been shaped like a long bar with central swelling through which the tang of the dagger blade would have passed. Similar complete objects recorded on the PAS database include GLO-6C30F0, BUC-E09398, SWYOR-534FF2, ESS-28F6B0 LEIC-7E3373 and BERK-920505. A similar quillon guard may be found in the Medieval Catalogue (Ward-Perkins:1940:39, plate VI) dating to the 15th to 16th centuries AD.
