A fragment of a copper alloy Roman gilded disc brooch dating to AD 200-350. All that remains of the brooch of the brooch is a section of the front plate. This is decorated with a raised rim and an inner raised circle (there may be further circles in the centre). It may be that the inner circle forms the edge of a bezel (which may have contained a stone). There are traces of gilt in the outer ring. Cf Hattatt (1989) A Visual Catalogue of Richard Hattatt's Ancient Brooches p364 no 1214.
