A copper alloy Ropan brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 5, flat wing ends type, Western Group), c.f. Mackreth 2011, 5.c. Plate 50; Hull T103, dating to AD 70-110. The pin of the brooch is intact and the wire winds round forming a loop over the top as it passes through the hole at the top of the centre of bow. At the top of the brooch are two arms forming a T. The arms are decorated with deeply incised lines. The bow extends from the T bar and forms three ridges on either side of the central loop which narrow sharply. The outer ridge terminates and the bow continues with a ridge along each edge before terminating in a point. The catchplate extends back from the loop part of the bow.
