An incomplete and worn copper-alloy Roman rosette brooch. Only the spring case and bow survive, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
The spring case is folded over to be cylindrical in form and undecorated. The upper bow has a convex front face. The front face is decorated with four longitudinal grooves. Below is the upper bow is a flat plate and its original shape is now unclear. It was likely disc or lozenge shaped. On the back of the plate are the remains of a catch plate.
This brooch measures 29.31mm in length, 14.06mm in width at the spring case, 6.66mm in width at the bow, 13.10mm in width at the plate, 1.61mm in thickness, 3.38g in weight.
There is a similar example recorded by Hattatt (Hattatt, 1989, p. 309, no. 785). However, it is too worn to identify a direct parallel.
