Copper alloy and iron buckle. Cast sub-rectangular buckle with rounded ends and a separate single pointed chape with a round stud at its inner end mounted on a steel spindle. The ends of the frame are expanded and curved, and curlicues adorn its upper and lower edges. Stamped decoration of curls and florets adorns the buckle ends. The chape bears a makers mark stamped on the back: the initials IM framed by four billeted arcs. The object has been darkened by treatment with oil. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1660-1720.
