A worn cast copper alloy mount of Post Medieval date. The mount is of shallow convex cinquefoil form with lobes that are separated by grooves that radiate from a central punch. A pair of integral pointed lugs curve inwards on the lower surface. They begin towards the outer edge of two of the lobes. Between the lugs the lower surface is slightly recessed. The object has corroded to a mid green colour with patches of the base metal exposed.
Notes:
This method of attachment using integral lugs is characteristic of the 16th or 17th centuries; for a similar mount see ref. HAMP-D87900 on this database.
