Post Medieval (16th century) knife cap terminal: copper alloy terminal in plan is an asymmetrical cross with one terminal being an incomplete circular loop. Each face is decorated with a saltire. The opposite terminal has a slot which is filled with traces of an iron tag. The surface of the knife cap is abraded. In length the knife cap is 16.57mm, 12.51mm wide and 6.24mm thick. It weighs 4g.
End-caps such as this example are dated to the 16th century (Geake, H. 2001 Finds Recording Guide 1.1 unpublished).
