A late Iron Age or Roman La Tene III type Nauheim derivative brooch dating to the period c.25- 100 AD. The pin is intact and extends at a 45 degree angle away from the integral spring which consists of four coils, one of which loops under the head. The bow extends back from the head and is sub-triangular in shape. At its widest point just below the head it measures 9.88mm, at its narrowest point where it joins the foot it measures 1.46mm. It is decorated with a series of six lines of lozengiform punches which run into one another along the length of the bow towards the foot. The foot is twisted at a right angle to the bow as a result of old damage. The integral catchplate extends from the reverse of the foot and is sub-triangular in shape with a folded outer edge.
