A copper-alloy double-sided Three lis in shield, Shield of Arms coin weight of Medieval date.

It is flat and square in form with worn surfaces. The front face depicts three lis in a crowned shield, with opposing crowned lis on the outer edge. The reverse carries a maker's mark comprising of a hand, flanked by the letters N? [].

It measures 14.76mm in length, 14.24mm in width, 1.75mm in thickness, 2.47g (38.12 grains) in weight.

These are French or English weights for the French ecu and half ecu, which were issued with minor weight variations, from Charles VII (1422-61) to the ecu a la couronne neuf of Louis XI (1436-1475) (P and BR Withers, 1995, p. 39).The hand on the reverse indicate that it was produced in the Low Countries at Antwerp (P and BR Withers, 1995, p. 60).
