An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester bow brooch. It si missing most of the spring and pin, as well as the foot and catchplate due to old breaks. The wings are flat, rectangular in form and undecorated. At the centre of the wings is an incomplete but integrally cast oval sectioned rear hook, the spring and pin missing due to old breaks. The bow is oval in section, tapering towards the foot before terminating in old breaks. The entire object measures 32.90mm in length, 12.18mm in width at wings, 5.18mm in width at bow, 3.02mm in thickness at bow, and 2.68g in weight.
This is an incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester brooch. It finds parallels in examples from Hacheston (Blagg et al., 2004: no. 63) and is of 1st century AD date, c.25-65 AD.
