A leg from a cast, copper alloy vessel, probably a cauldron or cooking pot, dating from the Medieval to early post-Medieval period, AD 1200 - 1700. It is spade-shaped, with straight sides that taper to a rounded point at the base. The reverse is flat in the lower part and concave in the upper part where the main body of the vessel would have joined. The outer surface is convex and decorated with two prominent, moulded ridges. Part of one of these ridges has broken away and is missing. The leg shows black discolouration, presumably sooting as a result of burning whilst in use; unmarked areas show a light green patina. It is 80.6mm long, 49.3mm wide and 27.5mm thick. It weighs 204gm. Compare SOM-F1ACB2.
