A possible lead gaming piece dating to the later Early Medieval period, circa 800-1066. The object is conical, solid and has a flat base. The top is formed by five strands which are now twisted together, presumably through damage.
Similar gaming pieces - sometimes also identified as weights - are know from Viking sites such as the wintercamp at Torksey. See also LEIC-3BFC12 and NLM-6787D0.
