A Post Medieval silver groat of Henry VII, dating from AD 1504-1507. Profile Issue, Probably Tentative Issue. Intial mark: Crosslet. Mint of London. Cf. North 1991 Vol II, p. 104, no. 1743, or possibly no. 1747. It is difficult to determine whether there is a double or triple band to the obverse crown.
This coins seems to either be a mule or the obverse legend has been simply misspelled, with parts of the legend more similar to those of a halfgroat from this period. The obverse legend reads: HENRIC VII DI GRA REX ANG Z FR, whereas the correct legend for this groat should read: HENRIC VII DI GRA REX ANGL Z F and the correct legend for a halfgroat would read: HENRIC VII DI GRA REX AGL Z.
