Cast copper alloy small double-looped sub-annular knee buckle with bevelled internal edge. The frame is oval, in plan, with a narrowed central pin bar which is flush with the frame but missing its pin. There is some iron corrosion product around the pin bar which suggests that the pin was made of iron. The frame has a flat outer edge of the base and a lozenge-shaped profile, in cross-section, and a bevelled inside edge from the base. The original surface has mostly corroded to a light brown colour. The frame is 19 mm long and 16 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick and the pin bar is 10 mm long and 2 mm thick.
Similar buckle frames are illustrated by Whitehead (1996) on page 48, No.279, which is dated from c.1650-1720, and Read (1988) on page 145, No.966, dated from c.1660-1720s.
