Two Post Medieval ceramic vessel fragements; two handle sherds dating from about AD 1600 - 1800. They are late Cistercian Ware or Black wares.
1. Top part of a narrow fluted handle and part of the wall. The fabric is hard and fine, dark red throughout with few visible inclusions. The sherd is completely covered with a dark brown glossy glaze. 67.1mm long, 28.9mm wide and the handle is 8mm thick and 12.4mm wide. The wall is 3.5mm thick. 16.72g.
2. End part of a fluted strap handle. The fabric is hard and fine, orange at one end and dark grey at the other with sparse, small quartz inclusions. The sherd is mostly covered with a dark brown glossy glaze, incompletely applied on the reverse of the handle. 72.1mm long, 34.1mm wide and 16.6mm thick. 37.5g.
