A medieval ceramic vessel fragment; a rim sherd dating from about AD 1100 - 1500, probably from a globular or rounded jar. The rim is sharply everted and internally bevelled. The sides of the vessel are convex. The fabric is hard and irregular, grey throughout, with a rough feel. There are frequent poorly sorted angular quartz inclusions, breaking the surface of the vessel giving it a pimply surface. The rim is about 180mm in diameter. The sherd is 52mm tall, 78.5mm wide and the wall is 5.2mm thick at the narrowest point. 70.28g.
