An incomplete copper alloy buckle of late Medieval date. The object is a double loop annular buckle. The frame has a moulded decoration of six sunken semi-circles which resemble a flower design. About half of the copper alloy strap survives with three rivets remaining and it is worn. The pin is missing. Small traces of gilt survives on the surface.
The metal has a dark gray-green patina. The buckle is 33.96mm in diameter and 4.45mm thick. The plate is 29.39mm in length, 23.18mm wide and 3.02mm thick and weighs 18.69g.
Similar examples are found in Whitehead p.46, no.269 and are dated to AD 1400-1500.
