A complete lead token of medieval to post-medieval date, circa AD 1200 - 1800. The token is bi-faced and is sub-circular in plan and rectangular in section. One surface is decorated with an anchor design which is of Powell's Type 5. The reverse is worn though is likely to have had initials.
The metal is a dark grey colour and is worn. The token is 19.2mm in diameter, 2.4mm thick and weighs 4g.
Tokens with simple designs are very easy to make and continued in use for a long period. They have a huge range of designs which were not necessarily related to function and could have been used for various purposes such as counting, gaming, farm or tavern tokens or possibly even as weights.
