Post Medieval (16th century) copper alloy dress hook: What remains of the dress hook is the body of the dress hook, which is an elongated trapezoid in plan and in section the body is semi-circular with slide flanges. The outer face of the dress hook body is decorated with a cross-hatching panel. The reverse of the body is concave with an open upper edge. The lower edge has an integral tapering hook which is incomplete. The edges of the body, on the reverse, has solder traces, which would have held the back plate in place, but is now missing. The surface of the dress hook is slightly abraded. The dress hook measures 30.73mm long, 13.24mm wide and 6.31mm thick. It weighs 4.6g.
The dress hook is the 'lantern' type and date to the 16th century (Gaimster, 2002).
