A complete lead spindle whorl dating to the medieval period, c. AD 1200 to 1500.
The object is circular in plan with a diameter of 28.20 mm and a hole through the centre. It is biconvex in section. Both faces of the spindle whorl are decorated although in a different manner. One side features raised lines running from the hole to the edge of the object creating cells which each contain three raised pellets. The other side is slightly more complicated with narrower raised lines running from the hole to the edge of the object. In between there is a diagonal line creating small triangular cells each of which contains a single pellet.
