Three Medieval silver pennies fused together. The outer two have the obverses facing outward, with the inner one almost completely obscured. Treasure case no. 2014 T328.
The clearer of the two outward facing coins is a PAXS type (crown 1) North 848. This type has traditionally been interpreted as the final issue of William I (1066-87), but which most recent commentators have reattributed as the first issue of William II (1087-1100). The other is very worn, but also shows a facing bust with a sceptre to the right which is probably also William I or William II. Since only the obverses are visible, the mints and moneyers of the coins cannot be ascertained.
21.8mm (length); 19.2mm (width); 3.6mm (thickness). Weight: 6.09g.
