A large late Roman plain cast copper alloy buckle frame with an integral triangular plate. The ensemble measures 67.83mm and is 35.52mm wide. One of the two surviving rivets measures 7.82 in length. The frame is wide and forms an oval. The triangular plate ends in a circular terminal which is pierced for a rivet. Two other rivets penetrate the plate adjacent to the missing pin which was of iron.
Notes:
Buckles such as this are regarded as being a late Roman military type and date to the latter half of the 4th century.
