A complete copper-alloy mount in the form of a human face of Post-Medieval date.
It is circular with a concave back face. The front face is decorated to define the face. At the top are short longitudinal grooves to depict the hair. The face has a defined brow with almond shaped eyes with large oval ears on the outer edge. The mouth is triangular with a triangular tongue sticking out. On the lower half of the face diagonal grooves depict the beard.
On the back face is an integrally cast circular rivet with a flattened round head. Attached to the rivet is a separate copper-alloy rove, which is flat and circular. Canvas fibres still remain between the back face and the rove.
This mount measures 10.92mm in diameter, 3.12mm in height, 0.41g in weight.
There is a similar example in the PAS Treasure Annual Report 2005/6, p. 361, no. 573.
