A probable die-formed copper-alloy thimble of the post-Medieval period ,c. 1500-1800.
The thimble tapers towards the slightly domed top and is covered with regularly spaced indentations. At the base there is a circumferential groove with no maker's mark visible. The thimble is distorted through crushing and the top is split . The thimble has a brown and green patina. Height of thimble: 20.54 mm. Diameter at top: 13.37 mm. Base: c.17.93 mm. Weight: 2.750 grams.
