An incomplete cast copper-alloy lugged disc brooch with inlaid enamel, c. 2nd century AD. The disc brooch is flat and circular, with fragments of some of the peripheral lugs and two nearly complete lugs remaining. The outer face of the brooch is decorated with a raised six-pointed star and central pellet with a raised circumferential edge. The recessed cell comprising the star is inlaid with red enamel, nearly completely intact. The recessed areas comprising the remaining space within the circle are inlaid with blue enamel, some of which remains. The reverse is flat and undecorated, with the remains of a catchplate positioned opposite two incomplete semi-circular lugs, a copper-alloy central axial pin and a two complete and two incomplete spring coils, with an internal chord. The rest of the spring coils, the pin and the majority of the peripheral lugs are missing. The brooch measure 18.4mm diameter, 5.9mm thick with spring and it weighs 2.46 grams. The metal is of an even dark green patina. Cf. Hattatt 2007, p. 345, nos. 1041-1043 and 526.
