An incomplete copper alloy strap end of Early-medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) date. The strap end consists of the reverse section, the top section where the split for attachment now broken and missing; it was probably tongue-shaped in plan. The upper side of the strap end is decorated in raised relief, the design comprising a rounded leaf-like object with small notched cut-outs forming at least eight leaves (broadly similar to that seen on trefoil brooches). On alternating leaves is a ring-and-dot, with a central line of three ring-and-dots also visible. There is a deep groove around the edge of the leaf forming a border with the raised edge of the strap end. The reverse is plain and undecorated. This style of strap end dates to the 10th century AD.
