The sides have been relatively crudely shaped or cut down giving them a faceted appearance. At the top centre of the object is a separately cast iron suspension loop that is semi-circular in form with a central circular aperture. The entire object measures 49.68mm in diameter, 43.43mm in height and 438g in weight. This is a steelyard weight of uncertain date. It may date as early as the Roman period, although may date much later into the Medieval or Post-Medieval periods.
