An incomplete and worn cast lead button of Post-Medieval date. It is missing parts of the outer edge of the head and most of the sewing loop due to old breaks. The head is flat, disc shaped in form and with moulded decoration on the front face. This comprises a crowned bust with long hair facing left, presumably Charles I, with the initials C to the left and R to the right, each letter having single pellets above and below. On the back face is a vertical casting seam, with the remains of a integraly cast central sewing loop or lug. The entire object measures 28.54mm in diameter, 2.91mm in thickness (at head, 8.77mm including lug), and 11.51g in weight.
This button presumably depicts Charles I on the front face. It finds parallels in other examples recorded through the PAS (e.g. NMS-CC63C5 or NLM-8AAF01) and is of Post-Medieval date, c.1625-1649 AD.
