A complete flat copper alloy seal matrix, of probable Post medieval to Modern dating (AD 1700 to AD 1900).
The seal matrix is circular in shape. The device has been engraved with a saddled horse, facing right (left on the impression), within a pelleted border. The initials I C are above the horse. The reverse of the device is plain and undecorated.
It has a diameter of 48.4 mm and is 6.1 mm thick. It weighs 68.5 g.
The seal matrix is a mid to dark green colour, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface.
