Incomplete Late Saxon copper alloy tongue-shaped openwork strap end of Thomas 2004, Class E, Type 1, in very abraded condition with the outside edge missing (ancient break). Both faces are decorated in relief in the same manner as those recently described truncated examples (Naylor 2013, 278-80), but this piece has been broken above the point at which those terminate. There are two rivets through the split end and eight extant apertures. Extant length 29mm. Width 19.7mm. 10th century.
