Roman (mid first to second centuries) Colchester-derivative brooch: The lower portion of the copper alloy bow remains. The bow is broken at the upper edge, and this is probably quite recent. The bow tapers towards a bulbous foot and collar. The centre of the bow is decorated with triple-stranded vertical ridges with a column of high-relief notches along the lateral edges. On the reverse of the bow there is a incomplete catchplate. The surface of the brooch has a light grey/green coloured patina. The brooch measures 39.53mm long and 7.42mm wide across the break and weighs 3.3g.
The type is uncertain, but probably dates to the mid first to second centuries.
