An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy single-loop buckle frame (c.1250 - 1350). The pin is missing. The frame is D-shaped with a thick outside edge and a narrowed offset bar which is slightly curved inwards. There is no decoration and the frame now has a green patina.
The buckle measures 31.7 x 23.2mm and weighs 1.69g.
Similar buckles are illustrated in Griffiths et al (2007: 87;91) where they are categorised as Meols type 2 with a suggested date of late 13th to early 14th centuries (ibid: 88).
