A copper alloy Post Medieval (1500-1700) strap fitting, possibly from a sword-belt, baldrick or horse harness. The wider end has been bent out of shape, but is otherwise undamaged. Overall, it measures 48.41mm long, 21.31mm wide and weighs 6.91g. It is formed from an openwork trefoil-shaped plate with a heart shaped aperture and a rounded attachment knop on the end and a forward-facing close-butted blunt-hook at the other end, a rounded knop either side with a rivet-hole between. The rivet-hole through the rounded attachment knop is filled with iron residue.
