Incomplete Roman copper alloy centre-looped cosmetic mortar with zoomorphic terminals (one missing, a non-ancient break) and the loop flanked by openwork struts. There is no surface decoration. The groove is partly filled with adherent soil and corrosion products. The terminal is probably bovid. Jackson 2010, Type E. Similar to examples from Brampton and Walsingham, both in Norfolk (ibid. nos. 65 and 213). Extant length 57.5mm. Estimated length 69mm. Thickness 8.7mm. Weight 32.81g. c.43 - c.200 AD.
