A complete glass bead probably dating to the Roman period, circa AD50-400. The bead is broadly spherical with both sides flattening around the perforation. The bead is an even light blue colour. It has a centrally located longitudinal perforation with parallel sides. The perforation has an approximate diameter of 3.3mm. The bead is in fair condition with a matte surface probably caused by movement in the plough soil. The damage is not new. This bead is from a collection of light blue, mid blue and white mostly glass beads found in the same field. The bead is dated as probably Roman owing to other Roman finds retrieved from nearby. However, beads of this style were used from the Iron Age to at least the Medieval periods and cannot be dated with certainty.

Diameter: 8.99mm. Height: 6.34mm. Weight: 0.63g

Comparable beads are recorded in Ellis: 2000, p185, fig 4.47.
