A complete silver to handled vessel, possibly a bowl or cup. The vessel is squashed and folded almost flat. One handle remains attached the other has been removed and is also twisted along its length. The attachment points are still visible on the side of the vessel as are the marks attachment on the handle itself. originally it appears to have had a flat base with fluted sides above below a scalloped border, above which is a border of stamped with groups of seven pellets in a circular arrangement, probably an approximation of a sexfoil. above this the vessel extends into a plain border with the flat rim. The handles were curving with up curved ends and was soldered to the body from the top of the plane rim to just below the scalloped border. On the base are four stamped marks comprising a lion's head erased, Britannia seated (indicating Britannia standard silver), a letter mark of a lower case N with a pellet in the middle ( the London date letter for 1708/09 in the reign of Queen Anne) and an unidentified mark which may be a maker's mark.
