The upper part of a decorated medieval cast copper alloy buckle plate of 12th or 13th century date. The plate is short and rectangular. It bears an image in high relief which depicts a lion going left with its tail curled over its back, against a punched field. On the trailing edge are two rivet holes for attachment to a leather strap; one rivet survives. The back of the plate is concave behind the head and body.
