An incomplete Roman (AD c.200-300) copper-alloy finger-ring of Henig type XII, missing most of the hoop.
The incomplete ring measures 16.78x12.15x8.70mm and weighs 1.94g.
The bezel is oval with a slightly raised rim and the internal area (now empty) measures 6.97x6.06mm. It would have originally accommodated a setting of glass, gemstone or perhaps enamel. At this point the ring is at its widest, 8.70mm and 3.27mm high. To either side the shoulders (pointed-oval in cross-section) narrow into the hoop (from c.7.5 to 3.6mm). Only a small part of the hoop survives beyond one shoulder, measuring 1.97x0.81mm at the break.
