A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy mount (c. 1600-c. 1700).
In plan, the mount is in the form of two sub-oval terminals, bulbous at the front. They are divided by a smaller sub-rectangular feature at the centre consisting of two transverse parallel ribs. The rear is flat and at each end there is a tapering integral spike/rivet. These are 'D'-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear.
The mount is reddish brown with flecks of a green patina.
Height: 21.85mm; width: 6.99mm; thickness of plate: 1.97mm; overall thickness: 10.22mm. Weight: 2.00g.
A similar mount has been published and dated to the 17th century (Read 2001: 28, fig. 21, ref: 314).
