A complete cast lead alloy token of late Medieval to early Post Medieval date, circa AD1400-1700. The token is sub-circular in plan and irregular in section. The face of the token has a raised cast design of a central cross creating 4 quadrants, with a single pellet at the centre of each quadrant (4 pellets in total), within a raised perimeter. The reverse of the token is flat and undecorated. The surface of the token has a mottled mid and light grey patina and is worn as a result of movement in the plough soil. Catagorized as Powell type 14 - cross with centrally position pellet in each quadrant. Lead tokens were used throughout the Medieval and Post Medieval periods as a substitute for low denomination currency.
