A nearly complete cast copper-alloy unclassified strap fitting or toggle-clasp, probably dating to between the 16th to 17th centuries AD. Read Early Post Medieval Type 3. The toggle-clasp is cast in one piece, with moulded relief that begins with a sub-rectangular segment that has two small knops protruding symmetrically at either side; beneath this, the clasp scallops inward, followed by the central circular perforation, around which a further three small knops protrude symmetrically from either side; the clasp scallops inward again, ending in a small horizontal bar and circular knop. The upper segment of the clasp at the first inward scalloping point has one circular iron rivet still intact. Nothing is left in the circular perforation to suggest it held a large rivet or other fitting. The toggle-clasp is flat, although has been bent slightly from damage. No further decoration is visible.
The mount measures 26.2mm long, 10.2mm wide,1.4mm thick on the central section and weighs 1.38 grams. Cf. Read 2008, p. 209, no. 757.
