An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Hod Hill brooch. It is missing the head, axis bar and pin due to old breaks, now worn.
It has a flat, rectangular bow. The front face is decorated with two longitudinal grooves. At the top of the grooves is beaded decoration. Either side of the bottom of the head is oval knop with a D-shaped section. Beneath the head is an expanding triangular foot with a transverse groove at the top. The outer edge is decorated with beaded decoration. On the back of the foot is the remains of an integrally cast catch plate. The back face is undecorated.
This brooch measures 18.40mm in length, 6.59mm in width at the bow, 15.46mm in width at the knops, 6.92mm in width at the foot, 2.64mm in thickness, 1.20g in weight.
