A cast copper alloy seal matrix featuring a stag facing right. The edges are damaged and chipped, obscuring some of the legend. The face is circular in plan and the handle is hexagonal in cross-section. The suspension loop is trefoil in shape.
The legend reads: +ALAS BOWDELES, a Medieval hunting cry. See SWYOR-6402C0, LON-CEB577 and YORYM-79E0C1 for similar legends. A matrix with a similar stag device can be seen at PUBLIC-BC94B7.
