A complete post medieval copper alloy square coin weight dating AD1585-1621. This is a continental weight made for an English coin. The obverse depicts a ship with central flower. The mast extends to the crow's nest with a flag hanging to the left and two rigging lines on either side, all within a circular beaded border.. The reverse depicts a rampant lion with an L beneath, surrounded by an oval border of laurels, this is the personal coat of arms of Lenaart van den Gheere III or IV of Amsterdam (1585-1621AD), which depicts a wreath around a left-facing lion rampant, with the letter "L" below (Withers & Withers; 1995; pp. 35 and 62).
